How Vets Helped States Prepare for Hurricane Sandy

When the Army Reserve got word of Hurricane Sandy’s potential destructive power,  it began working on relief efforts before the bad weather hit.

Some of those who jumped into action ahead of the storm sat down with “FOX and Friends” on Veterans Day.

“Before the storm was even approaching, we took a number of Army Reserve soldiers, put them on active duty … we aligned them directly with FEMA to help coordinate any support that the state may need from the federal government … then, at the request of the state and the request of FEMA, we deployed three quarter-master teams that had dewatering capability and we deployed those and they are working in the New York area dewatering basements of residential homes,” they said.

The Mission:

‘You’re hired!’ There is no greater way for a business to say thank you to our courageous servicemen and women than providing them with a job.  The mission of Helping Heroes Work is to raise awareness for the responsibility we all share in helping our returning veterans begin this next critical phase in their lives.
