Fmr. Navy Lieutenant Mark Warner Discusses Veteran Unemployment

Mark Warner, the managing director of Northwestern Mutual and a retired Navy Lieutenant, discussed the issue of veteran unemployment with Neil Cavuto, and what he plans to improve the situation. “Just from experience, I know that veterans tend to do really well in our career," he stated.

He then explained what he believed to be the reasons behind veteran unemployment, saying, “I think it’s a factor of just getting them in front of different employers and taking the steps to make sure that they know the opportunities that are available and the employers that are out there.”

Warner also explained how his training and background personally helped him in his chosen field, and how that same training can easily help others in similar positions. “Having daily disciplines that they develop in the military serves them very well in the financial services field. Also, they have a sense of service; they join the military generally to protect the country, so they serve the nation. Now, in our field, they really serve their communities."
