Fmr. Air Force Pilot Takes His Skills to the Board Room

Former Air Force pilot Jim Murphy is taking the skills he learned as a fighter pilot and applying them in the boardroom. Murphy, who is now the CEO of a business consulting firm called Afterburner, joined Dennis Kneale during an episode of "Big Business, Big Ideas" to discuss how his skills can help others in the workplace.

Murphy explained that one of the biggest lessons the U.S. Air Force teaches is the process of “flawless execution,” which he described by saying, "It's not about perfect execution, it’s striving towards that flawless outcome.” He went on to say that Afterburner utilizes a disciplined process of planning, briefing, executing and debriefing to close communication gaps within a company.
