It's a battle our brave veterans should not have to fight.
After protecting our country, losing comrades and coming home with injuries that will last the rest of their lives, we've found it can take years for vets to get their benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs.
As FOX 29's Claudia Gomez reports, one local lawmaker is now trying to overhaul the system that has failed our vets. Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick, Pa. R-8, has sent a letter to the Veteran's Association asking for answers by Oct. 31. It's not clear, though, whether his actions will have any impact on how the VA operates, or what will change come Nov. 1.
